The Nurses
These days, there are many different ways in which we can care for your health. We feel that the best way to do this is to offer you a range of professionals, with different skills and different approaches. Things have moved on since the days when the doctor did everything!
For example, you may choose to see our practice nurses Susan McCrae, Rachel Sansom, Penny Thompson, Lesley Haxworth or Angela Fear. We continue to develop our nurse-led services, which have proved to be very popular. Our practice nurses now take a lead role in managing conditions such as asthma, diabetes or high blood pressure. Sister Susan McCrae is our lead Practitioner in smoking cessation.
Sister McCrae, Sansom & Haxworth are continuing to develop the nurse triage and minor illness service at Bury Knowle for patients requesting same day urgent appointments, or who are looking for telephone advice.
Our practice nurses also offer the "traditional" nursing services, such as blood sampling, dressings, removal of stitches, and they help the doctors with minor surgery. They can also give you contraceptive advice, arrange all your travel vaccinations and advise you on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
