Did not attend - 'DNA'

On average, 200 booked appointments are wasted each month because patients do not attend.

If you miss 3 or more appointments in a given period, we will notify you that further missed appointments will result in your removal from our list and you having to find another GP.

We have introduced an SMS Text Reminder service to remind patients of their appointments.

We will be sending text confirmation and reminder messages to patients who have an appointment at the surgery with a doctor or nurse. If you do not wish to receive text messages from the surgery please let reception know. If you are happy for us to send you text messages please let us have your correct mobile telephone number.

If you cannot attend an appointment please telephone our reception team on 01865 761651 to cancel the appointment so someone else can use it.

Update on measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

The practice is closed between 12.30 and 1.30pm for training every Wednesday.

We offer nurse appointments from 8.00am. (please be aware, it is not possible to book nurse appointment online. Please make an appointment with one of our receptionists if you wish to see the nurse.)

We also now offer late evening routine appointments on a Tuesday (6 - 8pm), Thursday (until 7.00pm) and for a few hours on Saturday mornings (8.30am - 11am). Please ask specifically for these if they suit you best, especially if you work long hours during the week.

Please note this additional service is not available for urgent appointments, visits or phone calls - the Out of Hours Service continues to deal with these as usual after 6.30pm on week days and all weekend.

When We Are Closed

Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) has responsibility to provide out of hours GP services to all patients of City practices.

If you need to see a doctor during the evening (after 6.30pm) or at the weekend, simply phone the surgery number 01865 761651 and Oxford Emergency Medical Service (OXEMS) will be pleased to help you.

Alternatively ring OXEMS directly on 0845 345 8995. Please do not ring for appointments or routine enquiries outside normal hours.

You may be asked to attend an emergency appointment at the GP out of hours centre (St Bartholomews Medical Centre) in Manzil Way off Cowley Road (Map )

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
