News:

Did not attend - 'DNA'

On average, 300 booked appointments are wasted each month because patients do not attend.

If you miss 3 or more appointments in a given period, we will notify you that further missed appointments will result in your removal from our list and you having to find another GP.

We have introduced an SMS Text Reminder service to remind patients of their appointments.  Please advise our reception team of your mobile telephone number if you wish to use this new service and we’ll send you a text message to confirm all future appointments and remind you of them.

If you cannot attend an appointment please telephone our reception team on 01865 761651 to cancel the appointment so someone else can use it.

Community Midwives

If you are expecting a baby please see your GP who will then refer you on to our team of midwives. They are part of the team that looks after expectant mothers before, during and after childbirth. You need to see a midwife preferably before you are 10 weeks pregnant. During pregnancy, parents soon get to know their midwife very well and feel that they always have a "friend" to help them along. In addition to supporting and caring for you, they will be able to give you advice about antenatal testing, healthy eating, exercise, sexual matters and baby feeding ... in fact anything that you might want to talk about.

Community Nurses

Our District nurses Judy Moore, Caroline Carus, Carole Smith, Lucy Willans and Sharon Eddings can visit you at home if you are housebound. They are able to provide care which includes support for patients and their carers during periods of illness, wound care including post-operative care, assessment of continence and catheterisation.

Health Visitors

Our Health Visitors are Liz Marshall, Rachel Richards, Sandy D'Amon and Eileen Williams. They are able to discuss child and family health issues at home or in the Health Centre. Regular Child Health clinics are held to discuss issues such as sleep, behaviour, nutrition and toilet training. Health Visitors provide support to families including emotional support following the birth of a baby. Post-natal groups are run for first time parents. They also work outside the practice in family centres, schools and community centres supporting public health initiatives. This work includes health promotion, such as healthy eating and smoking cessation to a wider community.

Attached Staff

Psychologist/Counsellor

Your mental health is as important to us as your physical health. Talking about how you feel can be beneficial in many ways. All of the doctors, nurses and health visitors are happy to listen to you; we also have a counsellor and a psychologist in the surgery each week to give more in depth help. Please see your GP if you feel you would benefit from their help.

Physiotherapist

If you have any problems with joint pains, arthritis, immobility or sports injuries, our physiotherapists Viv Gleave & Associates will help you. Please contact your GP to arrange a referral. We are fortunate that this is an NHS service with waiting times well below those experienced elsewhere.

Dentist

The dental team have now moved to the new building to the right of the main surgery entrance. Dr Sharma is in charge of the NHS Dental Practice at Bury Knowle. She and her associates are able to take new NHS patients. The dental practice is open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 1pm and 2pm until 5pm. Please contact the dental reception team on 01865 308400.
